I’m not one of those people who gets up at 5am to be ‘more productive’. But today I was up at 6am as Grace, our elderly dog, wanted to get up and she gets pretty much whatever she wants these days.
So after I’d fed her and our four cats who were inevitably also up for an early breakfast by then, and settled Grace back in her bed, I sat on the sofa with my morning coffee and then started reading, writing, preparing for the day and chose to listen to the gorgeous caress of a new single ‘The Haunting Thoughts’ by the Delines.
And I know I’ve posted this here before but oh my, what a glorious song it is! And the primary word that comes to mind is beauty.
Their understatement is so powerful. They don’t need to anything but almost whisper the songs and they seep into your subconscious and fortunately, never leave you. They fill your soul with beauty and at 7am after playing the song for an hour on repeat, I feel enriched, calm and very much ready for whatever the world brings today.
The Delines have a new album ‘Mr Luck and Ms Doom’ out on 14 February. And three other albums, all of which are wonderful, though my personal favourite is their most recent ‘The Sea Drift’.
