Keep It Simple

Earlier today, I was in the park listening to an album I haven’t played in ages. From beginning to end. Just listening. Not doing anything else. Not that unusual you may think, but I can’t remember the last time I did that without the distraction of my phone, Facebook, Twitter, going online or all the other things that seem to eat away at your time. The strange thing is that it in fact sounded like the first time I had heard it. A new album. But not.

In an age of seemingly endless distractions, we perhaps need to make more of an effort to focus on doing one thing at a time. This is not a question of having a capacity for multitasking, but maximising the benefits of what you want to focus on. As I’ve enjoyed the experience of listening to this album in the park, I wonder what else I could apply this to?

And what about you? if you could make the time, what one thing would you like to focus on in your life without distraction in order to get the most from it?
